Quality Standard 3
Teachers plan and deliver effective instruction and create an environment that facilitates learning for their students.
Element A Teachers demonstrate knowledge about the ways in which learning takes place, including the levels of intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of their students.
Reasoning Statement: The video below demonstrates how I included physical, social, emotional and intellectual engagement within a lesson. This is a social skills lesson that I taught in EDUC350. In the lesson, I engaged students by having them think of a time they had to apologize and asked students to this with their peers. Next, I asked the students to pair up in teams and do a relay race to put steps of apology in order. As the final step, after the note cards were ordered I asked students to recall and list the steps. I also included the procedure part of my lesson plan in EDUC350 which shows that I considered students working together and engaging through social interactions.

Element B Teachers use formal and informal methods to assess student learning, provide feedback, and use results to inform planning and instruction.
Reasoning Statement: The first artifact is from EDUC331. Throughout the video and activity I used methods of informal and formal assessment. I asked multiple choice questions, asked students to engage in discussions, used fill in the blank questions, short essay question.

Element C Teachers integrate and utilize appropriate available technology to engage students in authentic learning experiences.
Reasoning Statement: The activity I created using PlayPosit allows students to explore and learn about acoustic spaces. Without the use of technology students would not be able to hear these unique acoustic spaces.

Element D Teachers establish and communicate high expectations and use processes, such as questioning, to support the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Reasoning Statement: This is a teaching video from EDUC350. In this video I taught a short social skills lesson. at the beginning of the lesson I asked students to recall and discuss rejection of requests. During the lesson I asked students to order note cards that included the steps on the whiteboard. The students originally posted the note cards out of order and I asked the students to discuss each step and provide reasoning for the order of the step.
Additionally I included my discussion post from EDUC350 in which I answered the question about the elements education should include. In the discussion I talked about having high expectations both for behavior and academically.

Element E Teachers provide students with opportunities to work in teams and develop leadership qualities.
Reasoning Statement: The artifact I included is the teaching video also included in Element A above. I asked students to work in teams for purposes of developing collaboration and leadership qualities. Additionally I included the procedure of the lesson plan I created in EDUC350 to show that I considered this element. In the procedure, I have students collaborating in groups and in partners. Furthermore, I included a second artifact from EDUC350. The second artifact is the same artifact I included in element D above. I included this because in my discussion post I talk about developing leaders and providing opportunities for students to collaborate.

Element F Teachers model and promote effective communication.
Reasoning Statement: I used my ignite presentation for this artifact. I used this because I believe that I communicated the parallels of working at a bank and teaching. I also included humor in the presentation as a tool for helping peers recall information.
